At Andremily we are committed to creating truly special handcrafted wines in an artisan manner, our focus will remain on creating wines of distinction, never compromising for the sake of quantity. Andremily has one offering each fall, which is shipped the following spring.
After working with the fruit from White Hawk Vineyard for the better part of a decade whileworking at Sine Qua Non, we knew just how special this Vineyard was. We couldn’t have been more excited, when Manfred and Elaine generously offered us the opportunity to take over the two blocks Sine Qua Non had farmed since White Hawk was planted in 2000.
The White Hawk Vineyard is planted on nearly pure sand on the south facing slope of Cat Canyon in Santa Barbara County. White Hawks proximity to the Pacific Ocean helps to insure a cool even growing season. The often nutrient deficient sandy soils cause the vines to struggle, yielding wines with greater concentration, and intense aromatics.
The Larner Vineyard established in 1999 is the southernmost Vineyard in Ballard Canyon in Santa Barbara County. The Vineyard is entirely south facing, with predominantly sandy soils. We are very pleased to be given the opportunity to work with the Larner’s, and the Larner Vineyard.
Alta Mesa Vineyard, established in 2000, is located in the Cuyama Valley of Santa Barbara County. Alta Mesa sits perched above Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard at 3200 feet in elevation. This vineyard easily has the most extreme climate of all the sites with which we work. It can on occasion reach triple digits in the peak summer afternoons. We feel this is the perfect climate for the Mourvedre we source there. The soils consist of decomposed granite and clay loam. There are large rocks of schist, quartzite, basalt, and gneiss throughout the Alta Mesa Vineyard.
